For students, the vast quantity of notes and handouts received
during an academic year do little more than turn their bedroom into a labyrinth
of paper. So here are seven uses for iMindMap to
help students organise their notes, recall facts and figures at the drop of a
hat and impress their teachers....
1. Planning an
assignment
Starting an assignment is usually the most difficult part of the
entire process. With iMindMap, you can quickly jot down what your assignment is
about and some ideas about how you can tackle it. The infinite cork-board
canvas in the Brainstorm View* means you don’t have to
worry about organising your ideas – just let your ideas flow by typing away on
the digital sticky notes, and before you know it, you have the foundation of
your assignment.
From this initial planning stage, you can start to build on your
ideas easily by clicking on the Mind Map
View. Because both Brainstorm and Mind Map View work in sync, your
brainstorm will automatically transform into a Mind Map, so you can visualise
your ideas in a different way. From here you can start adding more depth to
your Mind Map to watch your plan develop.

2. Making notes
Mind Maps are an infinitely better way of taking notes, than the
long, linear, sprawling notes that most of us have always made. iMindMap allows
you to create notes faster by recording the most important information as key
words and then making visual connections between facts and ideas – keeping all
of the accumulated knowledge together on one sheet.
iMindMap also contains a Speed Mind Mapping feature which allows
you to keep pace easily with the teacher or lecturer by creating new branches
at the touch of a button. On top of this you can attach files, videos,
documents and web links to your Mind Map to create comprehensive guides to each
and every subject.
3. Revising for exams
In iMindMap, you can condense your notes into an easy-to-read
summary. This makes your notes much less daunting when it comes to committing
them to memory. In addition, the use of colour, curvilinear branches and key
words in Mind Maps has been proven to improve the recall of information.
iMindMap gives you the ability to make your maps as colourful
and unique as you desire with the added benefit of being able to record audio
notes and attach them to your map. Your map acts as a truly multi-sensory aid
to memory and the Expand and Collapse feature in the software allows you to
hide information on your branches and test yourself. Find out how you can revise for success with iMindMap.
4.
Creative inspiration
Mind Mapping can help you concoct thousands of innovative ideas
– ideal for students looking to turn in their next great piece of creative
writing or artwork. Mind Maps represent the way that a brain thinks, on paper
or on a computer screen, with one idea or image giving birth to hundreds of
connecting ideas. Make sure to note down every idea, no matter how random it
may seem. This is often where the best ideas come from, so don’t be afraid to
push the boat out.
5. Making presentations
Presentations in front of classmates are a daunting task for any
student to undertake. Reading from sheets of paper loses interest fast, and a
PowerPoint isn’t exactly breathtakingly original either. By using a Mind Map to
lay out the most important pieces of information, you can use the key words to
jog your memory and keep your audience engaged, rather than having your face
hidden behind your notes.
With iMindMap Ultimate, you also have the benefit of Presentation View which will allow you to
animate your Mind Map as you are talking (in 3D if you desire) as well as
customise what your audience sees and even synchronise audio to the
presentation.
6. Problem solving
Not many students realise this, but the ability to problem-solve
is one of the most sought-after qualities that employers are looking for. Use
iMindMap to structure your problem logically and add creative ideas on how to
overcome it. In iMindMap, you can also attach links, files and additional resources which
you think may help. You will then be able to refine your map to show the best
solutions and its problem solved.
7. Group study
Mind Mapping allows you to maximise the creative input of
everyone in your group, so you can create outstanding work. iMindMap has made
it even easier for you to collaborate with other users. Using iMindMap Cloud and Mobile. you can save sync
and share your Mind Maps Wherever you are.
